This little gem of a playground is situated in the quiet back streets of Reservoir, next door to the Reservoir & Preston Senior Citizens Centre. I happened to stumble across it when I was driving back from the Reservoir shops and decided to take a detour. It’s a fabulous playground with lots to play for all ages.
The reserve is quite large with a fair amount of green grass and open space. It’s an ideal place to have a picnic and there’s plenty of shade underneath the tall gum trees. There’s one picnic table and a few park benches scattered about, but I would be more than happy to bring along a picnic rug and set up under a tree. Unfortunately there’s no toilets or drinking facilities here, and the park isn’t fenced, however it is set pretty far back from the road.
The play stuctures look quite new and are made mainly of wood. It’s so much nicer compared to the plastic fantastic primary coloured designs you normally see! Little ones as well as bigger kids are accommodated for with two slides and lookout towers, a wooden bridge, monkey bars, balancing poles, a fake clock, large threaded plastic beads, naughts and crosses, various climbing entry points and a spiders web. There’s also a nest swing and 4 normal swings (1 baby seat), as well as a four seat see saw, a rocker and a running wheel.
As it’s in the back streets it is quite secluded and quiet. A nice change for a playground and perfect for my kids who are a bit timid when there’s lots of boisterous kids around! It’s already become a favourite!
