Coburg Lake Reserve is an absolutely beautiful park to visit! We went on a sunny day and the walk down to the equipment area was so stunning! The dappled light coming through the tall leafy trees was so picturesque – it felt like I was in another country… not Coburg! The park is situated off Gaffney Street, with car parking available off Lake Grove.
We visited the rocket ship playground, however there is also an all abilities playground further along – I’ll have to take the kids to that one another day. There’s a lot to do at this playground with two main structures. The most impressive by far is the rocket ship like tower which has two large slides curling out of it and several climbing entry points. The smaller cubby house is suitable for the younger kids and it’ll keep them entertained for hours! There’s a slide, talking poles, telescope and many other imaginative play features. I’d love one of these in the backyard! Scattered around the large tan bark area is a nest swing, two spring rockers, monkey bars, a wooden bridge, two more slides, two swings (one baby), a roundabout and balance pole.
If the kids can tear themselves away from the play equipment there’s a large flock of ducks and pigeons waiting to be fed along the banks of the lake, it’s an idyllic scene. There’s lots of scattered park benches and a group of picnic tables to the side, however the grass is lush and inviting and I saw many people spread out on picnic blankets or rugs. Drinking fountains and public toilets make this playground a perfect place to spend a day out with the kids. Highly recommended!
