This awesome park was recommended to me by a friend, which was lucky as I would never have found it otherwise! It’s in the sides streets off Gilbert Road, right down the Preston end before you get to the round about. You can approach the park from a few directions and there is plenty of off street parking.
The park itself is situated in a beautiful green reserve with lots of tall trees providing plenty of shade. It’s quite a distance from the road so you don’t have to worry if you have kids who like to run off. Upon approach there is a half size basketball/netball court with rings. The main play area is covered in tan bark and features a large play structure with forts in two heights. There’s slides, a rock wall feature, a tunnel, balancing poles, monkey bars and a chalk board. Scattered around the area is a spinning merry go round, natural sandpit, four swings (1 baby one), a large nest swing, a suspended see saw, wooden train, bouncing spring animals and a large pyramid shaped climbing rope structure.
There’s plenty of park benches dotted around the reserve and a few picnic tables near the action. Large flat rocks provide more seating for impromptu picnics and balancing. I saw a water fountain near the basketball courts, but no public toilets unfortunately. I suppose you could dash out to Gilbert Road and visit one of the nearby cafes/restaurants for a quick coffee/toilet stop.
