What’s on in the north this week:
Member Zoovie night – Sing (Sat 1 April). Melbourne Zoo is hosting a member exclusive Zoovie night. There will be music, entertainment and a unique children’s activity centre. Arrive from 5.30pm to set up your picnic blanket, or visit some of the animals before the movie starts at sunset.
Brickman Wonders of the World interactive lego exhibition at the Melbourne Museum (1 April – 7 May)
Fabulous Fauna at the Melbourne Museum. (Sat 1 April – Mon 17 April). Explore animal habitats, diversity and evolution through a series of hands on activities. Create, construct and classify an animal and display it in a natural habitat or museum setting. Then, take a fresh look at the Wild and Forest galleries on a fun song bird tour.
Warrandyte Riverside Market (Sat 1 Apr). Head down to the Riverbank for the Market. There will be a jumping castle, a hug variety of stalls and food.
Open Farm Day (Sun 2 April). Take the kids to visit working farms and meet local farmers. There will be 18 farms and local producers from Nillumbik, Whittlesea and the Kinglake Ranges opening their gates to showcase farming on the fringe. With a diverse range of farms to visit you can explore fruit and veggie farms, animal farms, orchards and vineyards!
Kids go wild (Mon 3 April – Fri 7 April & M0n 10 April – Fri 14 April). Held at the Melbourne Zoo and designed especially for primary school students*, this full day program will take you on a journey to see some of the amazing animals at the Melbourne Zoo. Bookings essential.
Finding Dory FREE movie screening at Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre, Carlton (5 April)
Firekeeper’s Autumn Bush Days (Wed 5 April – Tues 18 April). As part of Nature Play Week, and running during the school holidays, children can explore the Darebin parklands through a series of nature connection sessions. Wander through the trees, learn new games, practice their sneaking skills to get a closer look at animals and discover more about the plants, birds and creatures that share the city with us.
Melbourne burger invitational 2017 (Thur 6 April). As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Welcome to Thornbury is hosting some the best burger slingers in the business! $16 gets you entry and a burger of your choice – sounds fab!
Movies at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre – Cars 2. (Thurs 6 April). The centre will be showing Cars 2 on the big screen.
Rock A Bye Baby (Thurs 6 April). PBS 106.7FM is presenting a Rock-A-Bye Baby session with the ancient African rhythms and melodies of The Senegambian Jazz Band at the Fitzroy Town Hall. It is a no-frills, daytime show for families of all ages and your chance to see a real band without fear of sugary drinks or costumed characters. Noise is welcome, crawling in expected and dancing is a must!
