Edwardes Lake Park is well known and a favorite among the locals. On weekends, and especially when the weather is warm, it’s absolutely jam-packed with families enjoying picnics and BBQ’s. When my kids were very young I found the playground too busy and full of boisterous older kids. Often the equipment would be heaving with children. Now that my kids are a little bit older and robust I thought I’d take a look again… and wow what a surprise! The park has been extended and upgraded to include a lot more equipment which is suitable for older kids, leaving the fenced area for the younger toddlers. It’s great!
At the main entrance you’ll find an old steam train which the kids can climb and pretend to drive. My kids have to visit the train every time we come here! The fenced playground has a lot of things to occupy the younger kids, including a sandpit, rotating net structure, a family sized see-saw/bouncer, a nest swing, normal swings, interactive noise makers, a nature inspired play area and a climbing structure. Outside the fenced area are a huge metal slide, another nest swing, more normal swings, a flying fox and a rope climbing pyramid.
In the unlikely event the kids get tired of the playground you can take a walk around the lake on the designated footpath, there are lots of birds to see! Note that there are no fences around the lake so keep an eye on your kids if they are runners! With BBQ facilities, toilets and drinking fountains you could easily spend the whole day here!
