Storytime at Readings bookshop

I love reading and I have to say one of my favourite bookshops is Readings. Before I moved to the north I attended their St Kilda bookclub which was fantastic! (Sadly I haven’t found one around my area yet. Any suggestions?)

Readings Bookshop has a free weekly children’s story time session running at various stores. For us in the north we have sessions being offered at the Carlton and Doncaster stores. We visited the Doncaster store and they have a cute little corner at the back with rows of children’s books surrounding a green circular rug.

I’m trying to pass on my passion for reading to my children and so far they love it. The storytime sessions would be a great way to encourage them to read and to also introduce them to new authors and stories.

Sessions run for half an hour and is suitable for children aged 2-5 years old. There’s no need to book.

Coburg Farmers’ Market

The Coburg Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday from 8am – 1pm at Coburg North Primary School. There are a variety of market stalls which set up their produce around a central playground. It’s a fabulous way to keep the kids entertained while you peruse the many stalls from growers around Victoria. From seasonal fruits and vegetables to meats, eggs, breads, sweets, pies, juices, coffee, waffles, cider and local honey there is something for everyone. The stall holders are constantly rotating so there is always a variety of goods each week. There’s a wonderful local community feel and the day we visited had a solo singer playing on a guitar. Such a nice way to spend a Saturday morning with the kids!

Remember to bring your own bags as the market is plastic bag free!
